Polypropylene elastic tapes: push & pull effect and extra-quick drying

The search for materials that can improve breathability, moisture management, and lightness is now a priority for sportswear brands and designers who want to meet the expectations of athletes and consumers.

To meet this need, we have developed a range of elastic polypropylene ribbons: more breathable than polyester, more insulating than wool, and lighter than any other fiber on the market.

What is polypropylene

Polypropylene is an extremely light and hydrophobic synthetic fiber. Polypropylene or PP is one of the lightest fibers on the market weighing 34% less than a normal polyester.

Furthermore, by not absorbing sweat, it ensures extra quick drying, is a good insulator and has excellent chemical and abrasion resistance.

Technical features that make a difference on the garment

Elastic polypropylene tapes boast various properties including:

• Push & Pull Effect: Absorbs sweat and releases it immediately towards the outside, always ensuring a dry sensation on the skin
• Extra-fast drying
• Ultra Lightness: Lighter than Polyester Elastic Ribbons
• Breathability
• Same elastic and stability qualities as N42 in a lighter, more hydrophobic version.
  • high elastic modulus, useful for stabilizing the bottom in bibshorts, the leg bottom and the waist.
  • softness to the touch, designed for comfortable skin contact even in prolonged use.

Cycling and sportswear applications

Elastic polypropylene tapes are used mainly in the sports world and in particular for cycling. The most frequent applications are braces, leg gyrus and waist gyrus in areas in direct contact with the skin and with high sweating.

Customizations, color and workmanship

Polypropylene fiber can be used to develop various types of elastic tape. You can make solid elastic ribbons, crochet ribbons (with an open mesh-effect structure) or jacquard elastic ribbons.

Please note: Polypropylene elastic tapes cannot be hot-molded and sublimated.
